PittsburghGives
The Disposable Film Festival is coming to Pittsburgh, celebrating the creative potential of disposable video: short films made on everyday equipment like cell phones, pocket cameras, and other inexpensive video capture devices.
Pittsburgh on Video will host a screening of the Disposable Film Festival featuring films from around the world plus a local competition where you can enter your film for us to showcase. POV will gives prizes to a People’s Choice voted on by the public on this site as well as a judges selection for Best of Festival.
Shoot‘em, Edit‘em, and be sure to Share’em on the site by June 30, 2011. We will be showing them in August at bike-in which will be announced shortly.
Guidelines
- Disposable media must be central and integral to the film.
- Acceptable devices include: webcams, cell phones, point and shoot cameras, disposable video cameras, screen capture software, pocket cams (like Flips) - you get the point. Unsure if your device is ok to use? Contact us.
- Use of multiple devices is encouraged but by no means necessary.
- Submissions must be under 10 minutes.
- You must upload your film to YouTube, Vimeo, or BlipTV and submit to the Pittsburgh on Video site with the tag DFF-PGH by June 30, 2011.
- If selected, the filmmaker will be contacted and must provide an uncompressed version of the film via our ftp so that we can show your film at the festival.
- Filmmakers are responsible for their usage of restricted or copyrighted material. (DFF, Pittsburgh on Video or The Pittsburgh Foundation are not liable for any copyright material unlawfully used)
Selection Criteria
Selections will be equally judged on the inventive and experimental use of the media as well as the content of the film.
Judging
A judging panel of local filmmakers, video producers, and other community members will select the Best in Festival. A People’s Choice Award will also be presented to the film that receives the most votes on the Pittsburgh on Video website.
